Outlook express

Office 2003 and newer are the only fully compatible Office programs that
work with Win7. All Office programs include Outlook.
But Outlook is not a news client.

There are numerous possibilities. You could use a news client of your
choice, with Outlook being used for emails (Google news client for
possibilities). Or you could use Thunderbird, which deals with emails
and news. A final option, if you purchase a version of Windows 7 above
Home Premium, is to run Outlook Express within a virtual Windows XP
environment.

If, however, you install Window 7 HP and you are used to using Outlook
Express, then Thunderbird is the most similar to OE.

Whatever you do, as Bruce says, avoid the latest version(s) of Windows
Live Mail. If you really must use it, install the 2009 version.

Outlook is not included in some Office distributions. A couple of my U3A
colleagues bought them.

If you mixed vodka & orange with Milk Of Magnesia, would you get a Philip's
Screwdriver?

On XP, I still use Outlook 2000, which was part of my well-used and loved
Ofice2000.

If I later change to Windows 7 presumably I will have to buy Office 2010?
and there will be a Mail/News client with that?

Alternatively, anyone successfully using Office 2000 with Windows 7?
