To some my way of thinking can be fun, but not everyone I meet in person
likes that kind of humor. Big surprise, no?

The other day someone who knows my propensities told me of something her
husband said. She was preparing Swiss chard, and he said he should open
a bottle of Chardonnay. It went right past me. In my defense, it was a
noisy environment. But still, I screwed up. We'll see if she ever tells
me another pun :)
Considering that "chard" and "Chardonnay" start with different
sounds ("ch" vs. "sh"), your lapse is understandable.

Unless it was a Swiss Chardonnay wine that he was suggesting.
Google says they exist. So does a Swiss Chard wine! (I do not know
what it is made of.) It is simpler being a teetotaller.

Sincerely,

Gene Wirchenko

Good idea. I hadn't done that for a couple of years, and I found THREE
(non-PATH) variables that had been set by Quicktime that were wrong.
Grrrr...

I also re-ordered the PATH variable to put the most used entries at the
beginning. Probably makes little or no practical difference, but it
made me feel better.
Leaves you with the illusion that you are actually in charge. :)

Explaining a failure of that sort is sort of like explaining a joke.

I found one Quicktime in the PATH, one bloody Acronis, and one stupid
Roxio. I can't imagine that they really need to be there.

You made me look.

The only unexpected item that I saw was Windows Power Shell, which I
hadn't known about. I looked in WikiPedia; it seems legitimate and
probably powerful and useful, compared to cmd.exe.

Looks like I have a new homework assignment.
