Why I no Longer Use Windows 7.

I never knew that only republicans buy computers with Windows preloaded.
I've personally seen a trend (highly unscientific, as it's just my
friends on Facebook and MySpace) towards Republicans buying more Apple
computers. They don't want to be seen as supporting the liberal-slanted
MSNBC cable channel with their purchase of Windows.

Of course I have and I know they can be manipulated to tell you just
about anything. Some of my favorites were put out by the tobacco
companies, 9 out of 10 doctors recommend Kools.
As a collector of old time radio shows, I love listening to the
misinformation from the cigarette ads:

Chesterfields: Clinically proven to leave no damaging throat irritation!

Camels: More doctors smoke Camels than any other cigarette.

Lucky Strike: Her singing coach advised a light smoke.

Lucky Strike: Toasting the tobacco removes dangerous irritants that cause
throat irritation and coughing.

Tipalet: Blow in her face and she'll follow you anywhere.

Viceroy: As your dentist, I would recommend Viceroys

Mecca: Where was Moses when the lights went out? Groping for a pack of
Meccas!

And there are still people who believe that the link between smoking and
lung diseases is unproven, and just a bunch of political hogwash.

so smarty pants, which of your quotes is an example of someone misusing
statistics?

they all sound like shady testimonials and claims to me. not a single one of
them is a misapplied statistic.

then again, this is probably beyond your ability to comprehend.

Where did *I* say someone was misusing statistics? I was talking about
the general misinformation contained in those radio ads.

Unlike the USA, Spain caught 100% of the people who bombed Madrid. So
far, the USA has caught *one* person that was involved with 9/11. I
feel safer in Spain that has been dealing with Muslims for hundreds of
years than in some country that may elect Sarah Palin to be their next
president, thank you very much.

Leaving the illegal war in Iraq was the sensible thing to do. Making
up lies like WMD and attacking a country based on those lies is what,
hot shot, bravery?
Funny, the Wiki leaks just came out and verified that there were WMD in
Iraq and they were enearthed as late as 2008. The problem being most
people don't see WMDs as anything but bombs.

Linux has less than one percent of the desktops. Most people reject Linux
as a TOY OS for geeks who can't get laid. Plain and simple.

If you want to do real work, get a real OS. Windows 7 is a real OS.

I assume you mean most people in the USA. Here in Spain, most people
buy computers to order unless it's a laptop and I know many people
who own laptops and the first thing they did was nuke Windows and
install Linux.
If that was the truth, then way does Linux have less then 5% of the
desktops?

I have a question for you. How come Linux was never mentioned in the XP
newsgroup? Could it possibly be that it's become more popular since
then? Considering that Linux is not mass media advertised like Windows
and Mac, it most certainly has come and is going a long way.
The WinTrolls claim Linux is absolutely no threat, yet they spew their
drivel in COLA 24/7. Funny, Jobs and Gates understand the the Linux
threat. Could it possibly be the WinTrolls are being purposely obtuse?

Do they know how closely tied Gore is to Apple?

Hear! Hear! And I'm from the USA, where we've opened our own "Stupid Wars

The same ones, I presume, who claim global warming is a myth and that the

The United States knew we gave Saddam *some* WMDs when he our proxy

Even Bush admitted there weren't any WMDs in Iraq -- and he's the retarded
numbnuts that us into the freaking war.

Hmmm.... I a quick google search shows lots of companies selling
laptops with linux pre-installed... What's so difficult?
Finding a place you can drive to that afternoon and pick one up. Let's
really be purposely obtuse here. Oh, you're already are doing that.

Let's see, how did you come up with that figure? Supposedly, there are
about 1 billion computers on line in the world which would mean,
according to your figures, that there a 50 million Linux users. Fact
is, however, that no one knows how many Linux installs there are
because Linux doesn't need to be activated or become "genuine" and
there are no store receipts to count like there is with Windows. I
suspect if you take the stats of the backwards USA out of the
picture, the user share for Linux would be much higher. After all,
only the USA could have such ignorant, biased bigots running for
congress like there are today. Those same supporters of Beck,
Limbaugh, Palin, O'Donnell and Rand Paul don't know any better than
to order a computer from Best Buy with Windows preloaded.
I was being nice when I said 5%, most websites say less then 1%.

Slashdot wasn't the only one reporting... You can spin the data anyway you
want but Linux on the desktop isn't going far, unlike in the server room.

I have to admit that Windows 7 is most likely the bestest version of
Windows since Windows 2000 but even still I have removed it from my Dell
system in favor of Linux Ubuntu which I just upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10 from
10.04 with not a single trouble. Linux just does everything I need and
does
it for free. I can compile a slim kernel to use on my P4 system or I can
have a fat kernel for my i7 system. It's my choice. Windows 7 puts an
extra
100 mb partition on my drive that I don't want. Why is that? Linux does
what I tell it to do instead of doing what some corrupt company thinks I
want to do. I use my Garmin GPS, Android phone, Sansa mp3 player and my
Sony USB turntable with Linux and have no problems. So why spend $165 on
Windows 7? I've been asking myself the same question. Time to ebay the
dung
pile and get back at least some of my money. Linux may not be the most
popular system but in my opinion it's the best, at least for me.
Why do you like Ubuntu more? What problems were you having with W-7?

After this total nightmare with W-7, all it's problems and the MS security
crap that I can't get rid of for good... our next PC will be a MAC. We've
had it. >:-(

I value my time also -- that's why I like Linux. Faster booting, less disk
thrashing when the OS is booted, no anti-malware or anti-virus worries (no
lost time to the constant updates required for those applications) and an
easy path to updating the OS *and* the applications all at the same time
with one command.

Nothing like that in the Windows world.
But for those of us with a lot of software that will only run on Windows,
we're screwed.

Happy because they are ignorant and don't know any better.
They think constantly rebooting, virus problems and so forth are
normal.
BINGO!!!!!!!!!! In asking some of my friends questions about computers this
past month, I find they know almost nothing. One friend doesn't even have
anti-virus software on her old XP PC. How does she do it? When they have a
problem they run them into the shop in town = $$$$. They don't add software
because they don't buy or download any. They do email and surf the web...
that's about it. So they're happy...........

Is that the best you can come up with? So you think over 90% of computer
users, worldwide are ignorant? And most of the very successful
mega-corporations use Windows...are they too ignorant?
Frank.... there are many times the Window's systems are down in the stores
and medical centers here although I admit it's been improving here in the
past few years. And who uses 90% of computers? Certainly not businesses.
Look at all the personal PCs out there. Millions of them in the USA alone.
Almost every single person I know has a PC, even people in their 70s and one
is in his 80s.
