Where is the "default programs control panel" in W-7? I can't find it. I
Googled and came up empty handed. Loads of sites. I didn't find one saying
where it was to be found. I did a search using Start/"search programs and
files" and it was not found. TIA

So everyone who asks a question here has to find "Windows Help system?" If
you don't know or have the answer, why reply and waste my time?

Never mind. My husband found the "default programs control panel."
Unfortunately WindowsMail is not listed as a choice.

The answer was at your fingertips. You could have found it in a quarter
of the time it took you to type your post. All you had to do is click
your mouse once. Like magic.

I did know the answer. I looked it up in... get this: Windows's Help
system. It took me one mouse click. Imagine that - Microsoft put all
those cool answers right there on my computer, just a mouse-click away!
It's almost like they anticipated that I might wonder how to do
something! What will they think of next?!?!
Never mind. My husband found the "default programs control panel."
Hmmmm.... I wonder if, since he was looking for "default programs
control panel," that maybe he looked in.... get this... Control
Panel!!! Wow! What will they think of next?!?!
Unfortunately WindowsMail is not listed as a choice.
I'm not surprised. Windows Mail is not supported on that operating
system.

Of course not. I'm not surprised. MS wants to force people to use WLM.

Or Thunderbird, or Outlook or just about any one of the many third party
email programs written for Windows. How damn inconsiderate of them. If I
were French I'd be out in the street setting fire to cars in protest.......

When "Search programs and files" can find it..........
When you stop ignoring the explicit guidence give repeatedly to you,
and/or when you can shift your gaze about an inch to the
right..........

You mean that when you typed default programs in the search bar on the
start menu it didn't look like this:

If you're not seeing the same thing, then it's possible that your system
is screwed up more than you originally though. Anyway my best advice to
you is to switch your control panel from category view to using either
the large or small icons.

Switching it to small icons (which I prefer) will let you see the
default programs icon when you open your control panel.

And it never will be because Microsoft has discontinued support for it.

They aren't forcing you to do anything. In fact if you were to install
Windows 7 form a retail DVD it does not have any email program on it
whatsoever. If your PC came with WLM installed, then the PC
manufacturer did it, not Microsoft.

Or even let us keep using WindowsMail? It's easy enough to transfer. :)

Or even let us keep using WindowsMail by including it with the OS?

Yes this is true. HP added it I found out. MS will no doubt keep removing
things we used to get. One

Unless you use a valid email address, you have no case.

Get a throwaway email addy you can use and send the complaint from that email
address if someone forges it.

Since you are using an invalid email address there is no forgery.

Huh? I don't understand; what's a valid e-mail address? Are you the forger?

It could depend on whether you're talking about the default W-7
"default programs control panel" or whether you installed a
third-party tweakware from the interwebs. It's usually right
there in the start button's pop-up lists; but it might be under
"all programs" if you've been redecorating the start menu file.

HTH.

In Europe it doesn't come with a browser. You are offered a menu of
browsers to choose from. Only in the USA are there people who like to have
corporations choose for them.
It doesn't matter to me as I don't use IE. I like Mozilla Firefox as I
don't have to see any adds w/ABP. It also saves what windows are open when
I shut down at night. They pop up in the morning ready to go. That feature
is missing or doesn't work in IE.
