I have been totally frustrated at trying to make file sharing work. IOn Fri, 6 Jul 2012 11:38:40 -0700, "Gene E. Bloch"

If you are paranoid, you can never be sure that you are paranoidKen1943 suggests setting folder permissions to EVERYONE. I haven't tried
that, but my needs are modest, so I won't, especially given that I have
a degree of paranoia...
enough.
I run with cookies and JavaScript disabled for all but a few
sites. I have been insulted for this at times, but I think I do a
good job of avoiding malware.
But I am not perfect. I once got bit by accidentally
doubleclicking on the malfile when I meant to click to select it so
that I could delete it.

I'll bet that if you go back and right click on your drive (in my computer)Well, Since I have read some google items that indicate that file
sharing 'tween W7 and XP is flaky at best, I should not be surprised
that when I brought up my machines this morning, what worked
yesterday, fail today. I cannot access W7 content from XP machines -
and yes, all are logged on as same user (me) with same password.
Permissions are still 'everyone'.
In any case, I am going to do file/folder transfers/changes with my
trusty thumb drives. At least they I know they work when I plug 'em
in.
Thanks for all your helps - I just wanted to express my disappointment
for what it's worth.
Maybe things will improve in Taiwan.

I don't know why yours isn't working.

I'm not sure. I didn't have to do anything like that.I seem to recall there being some hoop I had to jump through, having to

and Vista. I may have had to make a change in the registry to fix that.
I can't recall the exact details, and I can't find anything about it on
the web right now. Maybe it was a bad dream?

Wei,Oh dear. That's all I needed to hear. Thumb drive still seems a
better idea, albeit should not be necessary. Progress is wunnerful.
Sometimes.

XieXieWei,
Been watching this thread for a couple days. Have you ever lived in the
US, Canada or Australia?? Your command of English seems quite
remarkable for a non-native.
Wish I could. Now, how 'bout my question.XieXie

Oh Oh. Are you going to share with us??I'm not Mellowed, but I studied Mandarin before visiting Chine eleven
years ago. I didn't learn a lot, and I've forgotten almost all I
learned. But one thing I do remember is what Xie Xie means.

I had a reason for asking...unimportantNo, I didn't study in any school. My wife and I had a young woman who
was born in China, but lived in our town, come to our home once a week
for a one-hour lesson. We did this for about three months, so we had a
total of only about 17 hours instruction.
We were on a tour in China, and actually got to use very little of the
Chinese we had learned while there. Then, getting to use almost
nothing of it after returning home, we forgot it all very quickly.
