Multiple Desktops?

No, I don't care for your bragging and I don't see anyone else sticking
up for you.

I'm not sticking up for anyone here, but based on your choice of words
and sentence structure, you are coming off like jerk.

In Alias typed:
I don't need it as multiple windows on one desktop don't confuse me
like they do you. You say you're a "power user". What do you use your
computer for besides bragging on Usenet?
I am not confused by one desktop, I said that since day one. You are
just too dumb, that is all. I said in the beginning that with multiple
desktops, I gain more desktop space. Most power users benefit from more
desktop space. Simpletons like you don't though.

And I use my computers for everything. DVR, radio, streaming, 3-D games,
programming, running multiple OS, video processing, interfacing with
medical equipment, interfacing with electronic test equipment, testing
software, etc.

In Alias typed:
No, it isn't T-Bird. I don't read all the posts.
If you only use Thunderbird and nothing else, you will never catch
Thunderbird not showing all of the posts.

B

BillW50

In Alias typed:
"Everything"? That covers a lot.
I remember you were clueless about Linux and TV tuners. As you said you
didn't use TV tuners. So what do you do on the computer beside harass
people?

K

I stopped worrying about what others think of me a long time ago.
Then why bother to post? Most people ignore jerks and similar ilk, so
if you tried to help someone, would they pay any attention to you?

Can I make a request? I've had Alias (and other jerks like him)
killfiled here for a long time.

But besides not seeing his drivel, I would also like not to see it
quoted. So let me recommend that instead of replying to him, do the
same thing I've done and killfile him and all the other trolls here.

I see you're fairly new to this group........

(Note: Not meant to imply that I agree or disagree with your
above assessment.)

I don't believe in killfiles, personally. Every once in a file, the
"jerks" do manage to make a point.

But I am curious as to why he/she likes to do this? All it does is make
him/her look like the ignorant one.

Basically true, only about 3 months would be my guess.

Coincides with getting my first Win7 computer. I've been toying with
buying a retail copy just to play and learn with, not to replace my Mac.
Mac replaced my XP, 3.x years ago.

I was given a nonworking 3 year old desktop, hooked up monitor and mouse
I had, spent @$25 on recovery disks and cheap keyboard, and it works!
:) If I was fixing the desktop for someone, I'd make them buy a new
hard drive, a ton of bad sectors, but half of those are in the recovery
partition, and I partitioned around another bunch of them.

All and all, more than good enough for my uses. :)

True. But personally I'd rather miss that very occasional point than
have to read all the drivel.

But if you don't want to killfile him, at least don't reply. Replying
just clutters up the newsgroup even more.

I neither know nor care why he does it.

But I don't get *my* question answered. :-(

If this NG didn't have the .general tag at the end, I wouldn't have even
asked it. :)

I doubt that the answer is all that interesting compared with
what else you might read on the Net.

That should have read, "Every once in a while...." LOL

In this case, interesting to no one but me, and an answer that won't be
on the Net. :)

<grin> Probably not, but if you don't ask, you never get an answer.

People like that don't have the courage to have a real conversation.

I currently open a particular folder to work on a given subject or
project. My question is "can a single user have multiple desktops"?

John Ferrell W8CCW
There is a thread devoted to this above:
OP John Ferrell Multiple Desktops on 30th April 2012

It contains information about multiple desktops, multiple monitors and
any required software.

Happy reading if you haven't already seen it or want more information
