It should just install the new one, you shouldn't need to uninstall the old driver.

Try right-clicking on the hgvp07ww.exe file and choose "run as an administrator". Then approve it to run as an administrator.

Does that make a difference?

Is hgvp07ww.exe in your Downloads folder? in C:\Drivers\AMD Graphics Driver? or where?

Could you try moving hgvp07ww.exe to the root directory ... C:\ ... and try running it from there.

If that doesn't work I can explain how you can unzip the files manually and run setup after you expand them.

I can try gong to work now but when I get back. oh I don't even know where a root directory is and how you do it. all I know is the file you are talking about shows up in my downloads then you would have to go from there. I don't understand the file because when I click on it to open all my downloads are in there I thought I was downloading just what I needed for the driver so I would have to go to the downloads, all of them and find the one I just downloaded right and then what would I do you are the only one helping me and I so appreciate it

Normally installing a driver isn't this difficult; I believe they may have zipped it up improperly.

We may come back to this but I think we should shift gears and try to find a different driver instead. Please download and run the AMD driver update detection tool HERE and let's see if it can find a driver for you. Enter "Notebook graphics" for step 1 and "Auto detect and Install" for Step 2.

ok I did that but honestly I don't even know what I downloaded. was that the video driver. It stumped me because at one point it asked if I wanted to like add this game and if I didn't to select customize and then the next thing it asked me is if I wanted to add all these things it had select or deselect and of course I selected deselect because I didn't know what they were . I got a log after that and I am going to try to send it to you. let me know what I did wrong ok?

What game, there shouldn't be a game. It should have analyzed your machine and looked for AMD/ATI drivers that needed updated.

Did you install the packages it found or no?

UPDATE: OK I downloaded the one for my computer and yes, you need to select custom otherwise it will also install "AMD Gaming Evolved App" which is not a game itself but isn't something you need so deselect that box. But if you did already install the Gaming Evolved App then I'm sure it can be deleted from Control Panel > Programs & Features; just find it in the list of installed programs, right-click on it and choose Uninstall.

well I wish I would of seen the last update cause I don't know what the heck I am doing . the first thing it did after I downloaded it was to tell me they found this driver 14-4mobility-win7-win8-win8.1-ddcccwhgl.ex driver e series so I hit download it said set up will install amdcatalyst so I did it then said allow users or remove amd and I said allow users . as you seen it said to customize if I didnt want the amd gaming evolved app so I did customize and followed through but the next step said to select or deselect and I choose deselect. and it all followed through. after I did that the windows started that black screen and said amd driver did recover usually it will go black to the blue screen and say it didn't. it was happening daily as of today. but here is the problem. I thought I did wrong so I thought I should.go back and redo and it did but this time t didn't ask me to selct and deselect and took forever to download so now I guess I have the app on there and will try to look for it in the control and see if I can take it off . after all that did I end up getting a driver to fix the video thing problem I don't even know

Visual C++ stuff can all stay unless you are extremely low on hard drive space.

I didn't install the App, so I don't know for sure, but I assume it would be "AMD Gaming Evolved App" or something with "Gaming Evolved" in the name.

The most important thing you did not want to deselect is "ATI Display Driver" because that's what you wanted to (hopefully) fix the BSODs. You probably did install it so why don't you try the computer 2 or 3 days and if you don't have any more BSODs we can mark this solved.

If you do get another BSOD then zip and upload the DMP file to this thread and I will take a look.
