Since your picture looks perfectly normal, I can't guess what's bugging
you.
His picture looked so normal that I wondered if he was showing us a
picture of what he WANTS, not what he HAS.

Either way, it's not easy to help him at this point :)

YES! That's exactly what it is. He says "everything below Recent Places
is missing in the left pane. How do I get it back?". Look, it's up
there ^^^^ :)

When I click into windows explorer all I can see is the following:

Favorites
- Documents
- Downloads
- Recent Places
(snip)
Right above the word Favorites... click ORGANIZE
Choose "Folder and Search Options"
Navigation Pane - Show All Folders

I don't think his question/problem has anything to do with Homegroups.
From his post
Message-ID: <[email protected]>

"How do I get Homegroup and Computer visible in the Windows Explorer
Navigation Pane located on the left side of Windows Explorer?"

But I'm not willing to insist that this disproves your assertion :)

Good call, because joining a Homegroup (or not) doesn't have any
effect on whether the Homegroup label will be visible in Win Explorer.

This can also be achieved by right-clicking in a blank area of the left
pane, then toggling the "Show all Folders" selection.
