Setup.exe would be in the root of D:\
Is it looking for a specific extension, for example .inf

Performing a repair install on Windows 7 is one of the last steps you can take to rectify a problem with the operating system. Unfortunately, the repair install process is somewhat limited in comparison with previous versions of Windows as you are only able to initiate the repair install from within an existing Windows 7 installation. This is no use if you aren't able to boot due to an error (in which case a startup repair may help).

It is also recommended that you temporarily disable an anti-virus package/firewall running in the background to prevent it interfering with the install process.

To begin the repair install, load Windows 7 and make sure you are logged in to an administrator account. Then, insert the Windows 7 DVD and run the setup.exe file from the autoplay menu:

Then click Install Now to begin the process:

Now untick the "I want to help make Windows better" box and select the Go online to get the latest updates for installation option:

The installation process will then search online for any available updates, which may take a few moments. Once complete, read through the license agreement, then tick the accept box and click Next:

Now click the Upgrade box to begin the repair install of Windows 7:

Windows will then re-install Windows 7 over the top of itself, and will inform you of it's progress as it does this. Your PC will restart a couple of times during this process:

Once rebooted, you are then prompted to enter the usual initial install details (such as the license key, localisation and time settings). When this is complete, the repair install has been fully performed.

Try setup.

You see that I posted the contents of the Repair Install article. Maybe that is your best option?

I am repairing it dude.

However; the REPAIR part of the BOOT PROGRAM is asking for a file (as mentioned).

but I dont know where to find the file its asking for.

So I will try the "setup" file from the CD Drive Boot disc located in the tray of the Win 7 laptop I am trying to repair.

OK.

I tried to find the "Drivers" on the CD/DVD Boot disc: but get the message (again) "Does not contain information about your hardware"

so it now asks

Add Drivers
"Insert the installation media for the device and click OK to select the driver"

So (thank you Microsoft) maybe I have to remove the DVD Disc to put it in again to find the drivers that have not been found while it ramained in the tray

or

you are right and

either the Disc is not burned properly?
or
the Hardware cannot find the file/driver/s because the hard-drive is a wreck.

OR

I hope

the required DRIVERS are somewhere already on the computer "C-Drive" which I CAN NOW Access

?

When I re-insert the CD/DVD in the drive
my options (to try and get the setup/drivers file/s are;-

boot (file folder)
efi (file folder)
sources (file folder)
support (file folder)
upgrade (file folder)
autorun (setup information)
bootmgr (File)
bootmgr.efi (EFI File)
setup (Application)

I would be inclined to try "Setup (Application)" first; but again Microsoft keep such information a secret.

Do you or anyone else know?

Like I said a few posts back; I will have a few tries with different files; but I go wandering through files randomly eventually.

Or it will fix.

So it won't even install without drivers? Is that what you are saying?

If that is true, how was it built the last time? By Toshiba or you?

Then they probably built it with a DVD that had all the drivers on it. Then you only option is to go to their site and download them to a USB and hope that it will see the USB drive when in repair mode.

Sorry that's all I can suggest.

Got the thing running what appears to be a (24?) hour marathon STARTUP REPAIR "searching for problems" (maybe fixing em?).

Its been like that well over an hour now. Number-crunching and running a progress bar.

I tried to respond to a PM (message), but it 'vanished'?

Toshiba (on the phone) had no clue as to their own web site for me to download any Dynabook Satellite drivers. Seriously.
