I personally like Outlook a lot (and I don't use Exchange). But my
views, or anyone else's, are not what you should model your views on.
I recommend that you try a bunch of such programs (there are free
trial versions of Office/Outlook available) and make your own decision
about what you prefer. Avoid making decisions based on what it "sounds
like."

I've successfully gotten used to the Eudora e-mailer client.

YMMV.

Eudora 7.1.0.9 I imagine?

Actually Eudora v8.01b6.

It was just a guess email software when Win7(64) came around, instead of
Windows Live Whatever.

Best,

I take your point, but in this case the matter is cut and dried: I'm looking
for a program which can handle both email and Usenet, and since Outlook
cannot, then clearly I don't need to try it in order to decide that it's not
suitable for my needs.

You may find there are advantages to using separate programs since
those that do both always do one very badly and often do both very
badly.

I'm with you entirely! You should look for what you consider to be the
best for you in each category, and there's no real advantage to having
a single program do both.

And because we all work differently, in either category what's best
for one of us may not be best for another person. I like Outlook for
e-mail and Forté Agent for a newsreader, but that doesn't mean they
have to be someone else's favorites.

The Windows port is apparently different.
Interesting. I wonder why they did that......I would have thought that
99.99% of Evolution installs are on Linux....

I can only guess that they're trying to build Outlook and Outlook,
although it doesn't have a newsreader, can open OE or Windows Mail to
read news so Evolution would need a similar function to compete?

Just guessing, I can't play with it since it refuses to function on my
computer.
