Win 7 and XP mixed network

As others have said, LLTD is not required in order to network XP and
Win 7. Inter-OS networking works just fine without it. Got it.

I have a feeling this is going to come down to whatever your
definition of "not networking properly" means. All I know so far is
that it means something different to you than it does to me.
I agree, that is pretty shabby description of the problem. I will do
better.
Totally ridiculous, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
The equipment problems are my personal frustrations.
The work I was referring to was church fundraising and a benefit fund
raiser for a public service worker who was injured in a freak
accident. You are correct, you gotta do what you gotta do.
Laptop, too? You seem to be generally bad at networking. :)
Correct again. I seemed to have stepped in crap over my ankles all of
a sudden. There is more to the story but I would like to focus on this
problem for now.

Fortunately, there are those who are willing to help with appropriate
advice.

I can produce a symptom on an XP machine without involving a Win 7
machine so I have also made the error of intruding on the wrong
support group. I will report back here with results as a matter of
courtesy to those who might be interested in the feedback.

It is fixed. The symptom was the lack of permissions.
The user has admin privileges but lacked a password.
It is not allowed access or sharing to other machines files in that
condition.

Thanks to all, please don't feel you have wasted your efforts. I
learned a lot!

Thanks for the information. I will pursue this and report back.
I will also do a better job of defining the problem.
