Again while I am nothing close to expert, that has never happened to me,
so I don't worry about it. I guess if it ever does I would deal with it.
Now days I am far more comfortable just formatting a PC if need be. Before
HS Net it was a PITA because it took 24 - 48 hours to load stuff back in.
Now days it's a matter of an hour at most so if things get too screwy I
don't really mind just starting over.

I have so much stuff on my PCs, and belong to so many Forums, I really hate
to do these Recoveries. It took one evening alone to reinstall everything
from the external Seagate Drive to both PCs. And for some reason, I always
fail to save something. Some file or some folder. :*(

You mean like when HP puts Intel drivers on an AMD based PC? Yes that
messed up a few users PCs when they installed a Windows service pack.
Are you kidding me? :-O

I spent hours with their tech on the phone the other night just getting
Norton off my W-7 PC and trying to remove a few other things. The techs
could not get "Permission" to remove WindowsMail I transferred to W-7 from
Vista. Odd how WM worked for that week, then no longer worked.

I haven't checked with a local dish co. The strength can't be great because
we lose the signal in a light rain or even snow flurries. We also have
DirecTV and don't lose that signal unless it's really raining or snowing
hard. That dish is older.
Yes, you have said that before. You shouldn't loose the signal in light
rain. Either the dish isn't aligned correctly, something is faulty or
you need a larger dish. You said the company wanted to sell you a new
dish and that may be because they think you need a larger one but the
only way to confirm that is to have the current one checked. Since the
supplier wouldn't send someone out I wondered if someone locally would
check it out for you.

The people who read those forums would appreciate it... especially if you
never recover.

Carbonite has been well worth it's price for this. I long ago bought a
couple external drives and I backed up my stuff but I could never get my
wife to. A couple times she screwed her laptop up so bad I had to format it
and there would always be stuff she had not backed up. I bought her a sub
first. Worked so damn well I bought one too.
So far the only time I have used mine is when I buy a new machine. Just
log on and tell it to make the new one mine and all my stuff moves in on
it's own. When I bought her a new one for Christmas I did the same thing.
Day before I gave it to her I logged onto it under her account and told it
to move then just set it down and let it work while she was gone. The next
morning when she opened it, all her stuff was already there.
From what the people who know a lot more about this stuff than I do tell
me, I most likely could have fixed the wife's without having to format it,
but when they start offering things to try it's often way over my head so it
was easier for me to just start over.

There's a dish service in a nearby town I can call. When I mentioned this
to my husband the other day, he says he wants to hold off since we may be
moving soon. Since we live out in the country it can get expensive getting
people to come out here. If we don't move early next year, we will do
something about this Dish.

I know, there are sadists and psychos like you who wish everyone would die
but them. They're called sociopaths and they're ruining Usenet.

I'll Google Carbonite.

That sounds impressive. :)

I know what that feels like. Much of it goes over my head too. :-\
