You cannot say taht Firefox is "letting in viruses", but most likely it's text residing in the cache. It is harmless there. Firefox just displays the contents of Web sites, it doesn't run virus programs. And there is no other way to run that stuff when it's in the Firefox cache.
If you empty the cache using the Clear Private Data menu, it will disappear.

Run your antivirus to get rid of the infection. The problem is that you did a system restore after that. You could be bringing back the infection if the restore point you chose is infected. It seems that you have made it complicated. I would suggest that you back up your data if you can, reformat and then reinstall your OS and applications.

It wouldn't surprise me at all to find some FF add ons are not what they claim to be, It's sad, its the browser I use because I can add a lot of security to it. But I've also noticed when I run spyware/ malware programs one after the other without clearing up what's been found, the others would also detect it but not always so, malwarebytes finds one thing, spybot something else. You'd think they would all detect the bugs stealing your privacy.
