"Send to" problem

If the end-clicker has previously gone to tinyurl.com's site there
is an option to turn on "previews". It shows the target instead
of automatically redirecting you there.

While my own preference is to simply provide the direct link, as I did
above, if a person feels they must use tinyurl they should just use
the 'preview' version of the URL, as in

That way, everyone is covered, whether they've been to tinyurl.com and
allowed the cookie to be set or not.
But that forces those of us who do NOT have the cookie set to waste time
seeing a preview of the URL. This machine is OLD and SLOW. It takes
close to 40 seconds to load a tinyurl.com preview page, and then another
40-90 seconds to load the actual page.

I run a Mac, why would I care?

Safari can’t find the server.
Safari can’t open the page

because Safari can’t find the server

Maybe you should upgrade that 56k modem too... ;-)

First of all, you have my sincere sympathies. I'm sure you have
reasons for using the hardware or Internet access method that you're
using, and I'm not here to poke fun or downplay your situation.

If a person's computer or 'net connection is that slow, I suppose they
should consider NOT clicking on every link they find, or perhaps
editing the type of link above to remove the preview portion, but I
still think having the preview does the most good for the most people.
What was it they used to say on Star Trek, "the needs of the many
outweigh the needs of the few"?

I hope this doesn't sound harsh. I certainly don't mean it that way.

My 22 mbit connection to my LAN is not the problem. It is having an old
and slow machine that takes time to task switch, time to sent requests,
time to process them, etc.
