Hello Winston,

To answer your questions:

AV software running resident is Zone Alarm Extreme Security. Windows
Defender is running resident too (I have read conflicting opinions as to
whether or not I should allow both to run but they seem to get along just
fine and I don't have any problems).

WLM 2009 was the previous email program. However, it is a while now since I
updated this and it had been working just fine. I can't remember doing
anything different when the problem started. I know that I had used it a
couple of days beforehand with no problems.

Hope this is helpful to you (and others).

Peter

Peter..
Thanks for all the details yielding a solution.

If I may ask a few questions...

1. What AV program and if present Anti-Malware programs run resident ?
2. On this system...was WLM 2009 the previous email program, nothing, or
something else(e.g. Outlook, Thunderbird, etc)

Just to let you all know this is now fixed.

In the end I went into Control Panel > Uninstall A Program and clicked on
Windows Live Essentials 2011. There, you are given an option to "Repair all
Windows Live Programs". Once I had done that, the "Right Click Send To Mail
Recipient" function worked, but "Send Link By Email" and "Send Page By
Email" in IE8 were both greyed out. I then went in to "Set Program Access
&>Defaults" and selected "Windows Live Mail", and all worked ok.

So - to everyone who made suggestions - thank you very much!

Hi Peter,

If you're not afraid of the registry, I suggest you check your registry key
for the mailto. It
should be as shown in that screenshot :

Hope this might be of some help.

Hello Jaya,

Thanks for that.

As I said, problem is fixed, but I looked at that and compared it to mine,
and it is exactly the same (except for the French window title!)

Thanks again.

You can use the Win 95 Power Toy Send To on XP,Vista Win 7 and W2K8.

Download the Power Toy Set and only install the Send To toy

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc751394.aspx

And the download
http://wareseeker.com/Home-Shell-Desktop/windows-95-power-toys-set-1.0.zip/5251

There is no download button on that MS page to get this "toy." How is it
downloaded? As for Wareseeker.com. Nothing downloaded.... the link was
broken to the mirror 1 site. I got an error.

Do you have a Windows Live account? I had the same problem with the Send To Mail Recipient in Windows 7 until I logged into my Windows Live account.
