2x4GB Crucial Memory? Make sure BIOS has these memory timings/voltage: 9-9-9-24 @ 1.5V

Most of the device doctor updates you should just select it and it installs - no device manager intervention. You said there were 20, if one fails move on to the next. Get it down to as few as possible. And make sure you are creating a restore point and rebooting after every one.

EDIT: I see now version 2 no longer works this way and you have to download them and then run exes or expand zips and run the exes expanded from those. Guess they really want to sell Pro but frankly even the freebee is a last resort in my opinion and wrong more often than right.

It doesn't usually reboot on its' own; you must do it.

What about your memory settings in BIOS?

A special key brings up the BIOS menu if you hit it as the machine is first turned on, it could be Esc, F1, F2, F10, Del or really any key the manufacturer designs. If you don't know what your BIOS is or how to access it when your computer boots up then you should be going back to the store that built your computer and have them fix it.

I knew that i needed to hit a special key on startup to get to it, but i thought there might be another way. And i ordered my computer off the internet, so i'd need to ship it to them and have a replacement shipped back, which would suck, since i'd lose my data. I suppose i should just start with the drivers then?

You don't seem to understand. Now you keep going. You create another restore point, you run device doctor again and you install the next driver on the list, then you reboot and do it again. Over and over, one driver at a time, until you tried all 20.

Huh, during my driver updating adventures, i noticed that logmein still had drivers installed. Wasn't that one of the things that was messing up in the first place? Should i uninstall them? Oh, and only the paid version of device doctor updates the drivers for you/

Now its telling me to download ATI drivers, and my video card is Nvidia o_O Also, i found out that if it doesn't update on its own, the drivers don't work. Out of curiosity, would Driver Verifier be a better option than device doctor?

Yes, go to Control Panel > Programs and Feature, find LogMeIn in the list and click it, select uninstall.

To my knowledge this is not correct; don't pay anything.

You may have an Nvidia card but your motherboard's built-in video must be ATI; I suggest you go ahead and try to install it.

Completely different things. Device Doctor compares your current driver version and tries to update it. Driver Verifier looks for and traps driver errors when they happen and is a debugging tool.

Ah, i was just curious as to which one would be more effective. Yeah, i'll try and install them in a bit. And logmein isn't installed, just some drivers in my device manager, and i figured i should un-install those, but i don't wanna mess anything up.. I also found out that the downloads it gives you updates the drivers for you, so i was wrong about that. Just the first ones i tried installing were old.

I am not familiar with LogMeIn but apparently you may have to do a manual removal, which based on our previous progress worries me some.

RE: Mirror Driver Issue

When you do a command-line install of LogMeIn, it doesn't show up in the Add/Remove programs list. You will have to run a command-line uninstall. This is done by opening the command prompt, and navigating to the install directory. The default install paths are:

version 2.30.559 and below: c:\program files\logmein
version 3.0.604 and above: c:\program files\logmein\x64 (... if running a 64-bit OS)

Once here, type "logmein uninstall" to remove the program.
...

[TrainableMan edit: if the mirror driver persists try]
logmein uninstallmirrordrv

This'll remove the mirror driver

I mean, i could just right click on the drivers and select "uninstall" right? It would also help if i told you that i did re-install Logmein for minecraft purposes, but now i don't need it, so the drivers didn't get there by themselves. And i un-installed the program, but it seems that doesn't take out the drivers too.

there may be more there than a driver, best to try their uninstall options first
