Download and install the whole suite, there are a lot of useful elements.
Or just download the Free Youtube to DVD part
http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/index.htm
meant to say, be careful installing above, in that you check what is
being installed, nothing nasty but browser toolbars and changing your
homepage is not what everyone wants.

I use Any Video Concerter to first convert flv files to avi (I convert
everything to XVID/MP3 partially because I have stand alone dvd players
that'll play them) which I then use in Nero Vision to create normal
movie dvds.

What about VLC? I'm using non-blue ray disks. Each flv file is one hour
long.

So much for that idea. It's only a player.

May I suggest that you try Freemake Video Downloader which
gives you the opportunity to download and choose the format
you want before starting the download and it's free.

You will find it here :

I use Complete YouTube Saver, it's free and can save in different formats
and quality.

On an XP machine, I've used DVD Flick to make a DVD movie out of a
series of YouTube FLVs. It was some time ago, and I think you also need
ImgBurn to do the actual burn.

what if the flv is on my machine?
these programs generally only allow conversions from youtube.
Did you even bother looking at the link provided?

The software provided - Free Studio, will do just what's needed.

no its not, it will convert
What a lousy video. in VLC go to the menu Media. Convert and just follow
through. It is as simple as that. And don't forget when you name the
output to key in the dot extension.

So, VLC will indeed convert but a 10 min video takes 10 min to convert.
I suspect it saves it from the sound card in real time.

Whereas Free Studio will do it literally in seconds. It *is* a very fast
converter. --

I'll second that. I am extremely happy with Free Studio. Does everything
and is extremely easy and logical to use to boot. And as I pointed out
elsewhere on this thread, it is also extremely fast.

And please can we have recommendations based *not on experience with
just one program* but at least based on experience having used at least
two different similar programs. Otherwise recommendations mean nothing.

A sheepshagger who has never been with a woman will obviously recommend
that you shag sheep too.--

Well, further up the thread Free Studio was my recommendation.
As for the video, it was just a pointer lousy or not to prove the point
that VLC, WILL do what the OP wants.
