Huh?
=====================================================================

This screw up must have been my punishment for sending an HTML message.

Here's what I intended to say -- sent in plain text

"I hated the ribbon at first but after using it in WLM2011 and Office, Home
and Student 2010, I have come to appreciate its visibility and ease of use.
I keep it enabled at all times."

I had no trouble with the post you quoted, but I don't use Windows Live

Perhaps there's a setting in live mail that will let it quote HTML as
text (as my newsreader, Dialog, does).

Look around the menus - if you find such a setting, you should end up
happier :)

Bobster's reply to you indicates that he is atoning for his sin...

I hated the ribbon at first but after using it in WLM2011 and Office, Home and Student 2010, I have come to appreciate its visibility and ease of use. I keep it enabled at all times.

Have to agree, it took me almost 3 minutes to get comfortable with the
ribbon....

The ribbon interface in Office 2010 is vastly improved on the ribbon interface in Office 2007. It took me some time and effort to find the file menu in Office 2007, Office 2010 returned to the more familiar Windows interface for menus and retained the ribbon interface for Office features, where it does work well. I personally consider Office 2010 a step forward on ease of use.

Thanks for all the replies, have downloaded but not yet installed Open
Office.
It's mainly for my daughter and granddaughter who are used to MS Works so
I'll install both and let them decide.

Me no like the idea! Specially when they pre-install Norton which I grew
to detest in 2006, if I remember rightly, when it got so bloated that my
computer was creaking under the load!

I downloaded Open Office for my kids when they started High school.
They said it was no good as it did not match up with what they used at
school.
So I went to software4students (uk) registered with them and purchased
Microsoft Office 2007
for a very reasonable price.

I visited the above site and it appears you have to be a student,
parent of a student, or guardian of a student attending an institution
in the UK. I tried two schools in the US where my son and I are
enrolled and they are not in the list provided at the
"software4students" web site. Did you just randomly choose from the
list or were your children enrolled in a foreign school?

Sir George........you are assuming that the OP is American.......

However, "btinternet" is an English ISP, which is the one he is using.
Ergo, he is not a foreigner but a Brit......therefore eligible for the
software.

Just clearing that up.

A Canadian......or would that be "foreigner"??? (VBG)

Hi Peter......I wish it was just merry old Xmas cheer, but when our
daughter arrived from BC on Dec. 15th, we all came down with that
horrible flu bug that is hitting here and Europe......related to the
Swine Flu. And we not only had that shot, but we all had our annual flu
ones.....this virus wasn't in the shot. Still recovering....had to
cancel Xmas dinner, sob.

However, good to see you on here and will be asking all sorts of "newbie"
questions I guess about Win7. Taking it slow, but damn, Windows Explorer
is really bizarre to find your way around in. I have transferred some
folders via jump drive, but dunno why they have to have "public and
private" folders for documents, etc. Sigh..

How was your Xmas, old sock? (G) And as I said, glad to see you on
here. So that is you and Bruce so far. Maybe some of the others are
just lurking.

Cheers from TO.......Heather

Better a foreigner than an alien. ;-
