It's coming from Alias. That clown has been predicting MS's fall for 2.5
years that I have seen that clown in action. There is another clown
called BW50 or something like that that's even worst, as it got on its
high horse soapbox about XP with a lot of worthless babble. I suggest
that you avoid both of those clowns, because they will babble on and on
until the cows come home.
Is that so? Apparently you know nothing about me at all. And speaking
about Alias, Alias is simple minded and can only see things on the
surface and no more. Can't do their homework or do any research.
And speaking about you Big Steel, you are very much like Alias. As you
can't see the big picture either. Plus you buy into media hype at face
value, just like Alias does. I am not like this at all. As I see right
through all of the BS. I have this ability because it is my job to do so
for decades.
Take this example:
Microsoft profit leaps to $5.41bn as Windows 7 becomes fastest-selling
OS in history
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolo...-7-becomes-fastest-selling-OS-in-history.html
Microsoft claims Windows 7 had sold 240 million licenses for the
software in its first year, making it the fastest-selling operating
system in history.
It is easy how Microsoft gets this number if you dig deeper. As about
90% of all new computers sold comes with Windows 7, which includes
Windows 7 licenses.
So how many new PCs are out there in a given year? It is about 260
million per year. And if Windows 7 was put on about 90% of them, that
would mean about 240 million Windows 7 licenses. Amazing, the same
number that Microsoft came up with too.
What Microsoft isn't telling you is how many actually bought Windows 7
without a new PC. Apparently it can't be a whole lot, as just new PCs
will give Microsoft such a high number. And Microsoft always gets this
trophy because it is preinstalled on most new PCs anyway. And as long as
there are more PCs sold every year, they will always claim this trophy.
No news there.
There are other things that are not said in this article. As Microsoft
says you need to purchase Windows 7, if you need a license for an
earlier version of Windows. As Windows 7 licenses are downgradable. And
what does this do? Increases Windows 7 sales of course. ;-)
So how many are actually downgrading? Microsoft isn't saying, but the
last I heard was about 20% are. And you can find lots of posts on the
net of people doing just that.
There are other things that Microsoft isn't telling you either. Let's
look at the total licenses sold so far.
400,000,000+ Windows XP
240,000,000 Windows 7
So Windows 7 still hasn't outsold XP yet, now has it? And what about the
current user base? Maybe Windows 7 looks better there?
Desktop market share for March 2011
Total Windows - 91.51%
Windows XP - 47.3%
Windows 7 - 30.32%
Windows Vista - 13.89%
Non-Windows - 8.49%
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Microsoft_Windows_versions
Heck the ratio between the numbers between XP and Windows 7 look about
the very same as the above number of licenses sold.
So I don't know why you don't bother doing your homework Big Steel? As
you can never get to the bottom of the truth unless you do. And how you
somehow confuse me with Alias is a huge mystery? As you are so much more
like Alias than I ever will be. ;-)
