It did ship with Vista but as soon as W7 was available I upgraded to Windows 7 Pro
No did not have any issues after upgrading this has been in just the past couple months but really has just gotten alot worse in the past week or two.

If the item is a zip file or an ISO it could be the size of a DVD so it may take a while. I don't recommend stopping the scan.

Does your A/V happen to show you the filename it is analyzing?

it was a temporary file and when I went to click on it, it just suddenly finished up and said that it fixed like 66 cookies

cookies aren't a virus though, so no viruses found?

Have you had a chance to download and install the BIOS update: 1735_A05.EXE? I would recommend you do that and then operate it a while and see if the problem persists.

Of course it could also be a hardware issue like the power button going bad or in laptops they also have an open/close lid sensor./switch
