Awesome! Thank you!

Problem: I can not tell if the links are for the retail or the oem. I
need the oem. Can you tell what they are?

Many thanks,

I thought those were retail ???

There is a thread here, where a guy installs using x17-24209 and all
he needed to do, was activate. You wouldn't expect a retail installer
DVD to automatically activate like the OEM on a laptop might. I'm
really surprised that works. Since the poster here, erased his
SSD before installing, it wasn't really a repair install as such.

My understanding is that OEM versions are customized by the respective
OEMs, and therefore OEM versions are only available directly from the
respective OEMs.

The download links provided above are for retail versions.

They can be (or, at least MS used to allow this, I suppose they still
do) but there are also unbranded OEM media provided directly from
Microsoft that are no different from retail versions except for the
EULA and activation codes.

Indeed they are, though I doubt that will matter for the OP's
purposes. Or perhaps it does, I've never verified that you can use
Retail media to repair an OEM Windows 7 install, though I have on
earlier Windows versions.

They are Retail as far as I know, but that might not make a difference
given that you are attempting a repair. Probably won't hurt to try,
I'd expect Windows to put up a warning / error if it doesn't like what
it sees (though I'd probably pull a system image before trying, just
to be safe).

something big and sinister going on in the world.
Slartibartfast: No, that's perfectly normal paranoia. Everyone in the
universe gets that.

Any idea if I can download the official ISO of W7-pro-x32 OEM
from M$? (I don't trust hacker sites.)
Yes, subscribers can.

You can also get the bits for free:

As I recall, slipstreaming Service Packs into Windows Vista and later
isn't as easy as XP was, and isn't officially supported by Microsoft
so unless things have changed this might not be a good option. I'd
suggest downloading one with SP1 integrated from Digital River,
Microsoft's official e-Commerce partner. You can find links in the
article here:

I did slipstream SP1 to a retail-upgrade DVD of Win7 Home Premium using
this: http://www.vlite.net/

No trouble at all.

Vlite's process is not supported by Microsoft, and it leaves "tracks"
behind - what you end up with is not the same as an actual SP1 DVD, so
I have no way of knowing if that produces a DVD that is capable of
performing an in-place repair for the OP. So even though the process
might be easier now, it still has issues that would prevent me from
using it. But of course, each must make their own choices.

I did a clean install with that disk, seems to work so far.

I suspect he was *bragging*, not fretting or apologizing :)

Been there myself, felt that way.
