I have XP/SP3 and run Outlook Express 6.0 for all my email.

I have lots of history, with several years worth of email, attachments,
etc...
All the years worth of emails are in folders,
with additional folders for various emails activities.

Before I move from XP to Win 7,
I want to make sure I have a clearly defined path to "something"
that will be able to import my OE message store files (with their embedded
attachments)
and be able to re-populate my message folders and existing structure...

If you have Win7 Professional or higher you could install XP-Mode and
run Outlook Express furthermore.
If not you could migrate your old XP into a virtual machine, but this is
not a very easy job.

Whatever you choose to do, burn all that OE mail to DVDs first. Or copy
to a large USB drive. Or both. You can then copy it to the W7 machine,
and experiment without risking data loss.

You can import OE into Thunderbird (free):

You can migrate from OE to Windows Mail (included with W7):

Both are IMO better choices than Outlook Express, which is in any case
no longer supported/updated by Microsoft.
