Control Panel > Change User Account Control Settings
Where is that choice found in Home Premium? There is no "Change User
Account Control Settings" under Control panel's expanded drop-down menu or
on the page. Look again or you don't have Home Premium.
It's at the top, in the section labelled "Action Center".

If you somehow manage to get there, you can click on the highlighted
sentence "Tell me more about User Account Control settings".
I can't get there is it's not there can I? :) There is no "Change User
Account" there in Home Premium.

What "technical terminology"?
The terminology in many help files.
Some things can only be explained or described by using the correct
terms. If you don't understand them, you'd best leave it alone or find
someone more knowledgeable than you. If you prefer to root around by
yourself under the hood without understanding what you're doing, then
you need to take responsibility for your own actions as quite whining.
I'm talking responsibility. So far the advice I was given did not give me
"permission" to move files on my W-7 PC.
Windows Mail cannot be "installed" on any flavor of Windows 7. It's not
intended to be used on that platform, and there is no install program
for it.
Yet if you look online on the Forums, people are doing it if they can move
the files. How can that be?
You can try to copy things from one computer, but that's not an
official installation that's supported by Microsoft. You're on your
own, and if your hacking doesn't work, tough luck. People have been
able to finagle it, though - I suspect you just haven't followed their
directions.
We have. Some are in simple English. All the files from WM are now in WLM
but the program is still working the same. We can't get all our mail to
come down in one folder. There are 6 seperate accounts. We want to try
installing WM another way. Now, can you explain or have a website where I
can gain full control of this PC that the average user can understand?
Yes, there is.
Where is it located? Why is it such a deep dark secret?

Or, there would be if there were such a thing as "W-
7/SP2 64-bit HomePremium".
He gave me the wrong information but I can't edit posts here.

Certain folder no longer exist in Vista and Windows 7. But older (legacy)
applications may be hard coded to use them (like a program incorrectly
hardcoded to go to C:\Documents and Settings\username instead of the
proper %USERPROFILE%). So we have Junction Points to help those older
programs along. You see an entry in the root of C: for "Documents and
Settings" but it's not really a folder. There is nothing inside. It is
juts a pointer for an older program.

Is that the trouble you are having and not specifically stating?
The problem I'm having is when I try to move the files as per directions
from the net, where WM is concerned, it says I need permission. It doesn't
say how to get or where to get permission from. How do I get "permission to
move these files? With all the aggravation with these safety features in
Vista I was sure MS would get rid of this kind of thing or make it easy for
non-Geeks to get rid of it themselves. This entire thread and not one person
gave me directions on how to do it. How to disable it or shut it off as I
did in Vista. :*(

There is 'User Accounts' and in there you should find 'Change User
Account Control Settings'.

I'm using 'View by Large Icons' and not 'View by Category' on my
control panel.

Until you ask a coherent question with full details, you're going to
continue to get what you have earned.
Yet if you look online on the Forums, people are doing it if they
can move the files. How can that be?
They are following directions properly. If they have a problem, they
are asking fully formed questions. Unlike you.
Now, can you explain or have a website where I can gain full
control of this PC that the average user can understand?
Since you don't express a fully formed, coherent question, no I
can't.
Where is it located? Why is it such a deep dark secret?
<http://www.google.com/search?q=windows+7+UAC>

Or, you could Read the Fine Manual (help file).

You could have looked that up just as easily as I did. It's no secret.

Get a reasonable book on W7 and *read* it. It is your responsibility to
learn these things.
That wont help me now. Why is this such a big secret? I found User Accounts
Settings, ran the bar to the bottom and it made no difference. As for
books. I see you haven't bought any in years for MS OSs. The last book we
bought, for XP, didn't answer 1/2 our questions. They weren't even included
in the book.
A thousand words of plain English is not necessarily the right way to
describe something that has a useful technical term to name it. Spend
some time with that book and learn the terminology.
The books don't explain what the words mean. I don't have hours and hours to
spend Googling every technical word that comes up. Who can read a book that
way?
Would you like me to say to you, if you're driving a car and about to
hit something, "Look for that flat pedal on the floor - I mean the wider
one on the left - and put your right foot on it and press hard",
or would you like me to say "Hit the brakes"?
I understand what "hit the brakes" means.... I wouldn't understand if you
said "Gobabba dew Chopat." I've read helpfiles that use as little
techie-speak as possible. They get the point across to just about anyone.
Most unfortunately, are not written for the average PC user.

For the 8th time: yes there is.

Google it or use Windows Help.

Rodney,
You are correct, but there is one step you left out. On control panel, first
click "User accounts and family safety", then "User accounts" and etc.
Valorie, I'm running 64 bit Home Premium and 64 Bit Professional and it's on
both systems.

That's only if you have View by Category selected. If you have view by
icon (either size) you get straight to User Accounts, the old classic
view I believe :)

Maybe be specific about which files you are trying to move from where and to
where and someone can provide an answer.

Again, be specific or you're not going to get a proper answer.

Are you trying to move/copy these files with a user account that has
administrator privileges? If not, then that's where your problem lies.

You're correct, I misread your post and thought you said you were viewing by

Valorie, try this:
Nevertheless, Windows Mail *does* run in Windows 7. I've never tried it
myself, but here are instructions:

or http://tinyurl.com/o276tv

I clipped this from a post by Ken Blake. He is very knowledgeable on Windows
along with a lot of others here who are trying to help you. If you will take
a breath, slow down and stop posting questions until you read the answers
you will probably solve most of your problems as there are a lot of people
trying to help you.

Yet you seem to have unlimited time to post on usenet. If you will slow down
and try to provide information you are being asked for so people can help
you, you should be able to solve your problems. This NG is full of a vast
amount of knowledge and people who are willing to help.

Hehe well no, but sometimes I just can't resist the temptation to seek
an intelligent reply from a moron, mostly to see what happens. ;) BUT
ho-hum, pretty much the same-ol, same-ol.. Unintelligent dribble. One
can hold onto hope though, eh? lol The other reason is to force the
"moron" into something intelligible, but alas, one can't get
intelligence from a stone now can they? Sorta like Frank, surely there
is intelligence there, I have seen lucid comments from him from time to
time, but then he blowes it all away with stupid a** comments, cursing,
and forced opinions. How sad.. There was such potential there. ;) See,
the opportunity for intelligence was there, but thrown away for
stupidity. LOL ..I could be wrong.. Maybe there wasn't intelligence
there after-all...

As for Kill-filing, well, I just don't do it. I get too much of a kick
out of.. Well.. UNINTELLIGENT stuff like this thread. ROTFLOL ..Although
I draw the line with Kevin P! What a case eh? Really, I don't care about
the circumstances that much, surely there is SOMEONE that can monitor
his online activity. SHEESH!

This is my game stupid and you're just a broke piece on the playing
field with your nose opened . You're nothing new and you're a dime a
dozen llort, a responder, and you can reverse spell the word. I can
post in here tomorrow with a different nym, which I have done on more
than a few occasions, and you wouldn't know who I was.

There is a home user sucker born every minute! And you're it!

And I care why? Nymshifting is NOTHING to be proud of for one thing. As
far as "my game" how is that? You didn't start the thread, so what
"game" are you referring to? Reading crap backwards? Troll? So cryptic
for no good reason at all. BFD & Hilarious! I don't care now, nor could
I care less in the future who you are. I prefer to disassociate myself
with morons anyway, so spotting you and avoiding you will be so easy.
Log in as 50 different people for all I care, big deal. Whoop-De-Do!
Only morons aspire to do such things and think they have accomplished
something profound. Too frigging funny! The most you can hope for is
people rightfully calling you a Nymshifter, and putting you down for it.
...So YOU loose. LOL Get a life, K? Better yet, get educated so you have
"teeth" with a rebuttal, or better yet you then can get a minimum wage
job. Oh, and actually, sadly enough, MORONS like you ARE the
"Dime-a-dozen." Truely is a sad state of affairs when morons start to
outnumber intelligent people! ..So quit smoking dope!
Home user? Hahaha, you know NOTHING. I suspect you are some 13 year-old
puke, pretending to be something you are not. Your intelligence level
states otherwise! Run along, I think I heard the second bell. Yer late!

G'day
