Not to hijack the thread, but unfortunately, the add-on that won't
work with FF6 that I care about is the Google Toolbar. Yes, I know
I
can change the search provider for the search bar that shows in the
upper-right, it is a few of the other features that the toolbar
provides that I find useful - like showing the search terms and
allowing you to find them in the page by clicking on them, opening
searches in a new tab, etc.
I wouldn't worry, it'll be back - it seems to come as a default
addon to oodles of things, usually with the default set to yes
install it. IIRR the last thing I encountered it in was the latest
version of IrfanView (though I think it's been in that for a few
versions).
I suspect not, unfortunately. Per Google, they have no plans to
update it to work with FF 5 or later (though, it did work for me in
FF5, but it no longer does in FF6) -

Arthur: All my life I've had this strange feeling that there's
something big and sinister going on in the world.
Slartibartfast: No, that's perfectly normal paranoia. Everyone in the
universe gets that.

I found a way to allow the Google Toolbar to install and work in FF6:

http://www.itechmag.com/firefox-6-tips-enable-google-toolbar-in-firefox-6/

Essentially, you install the Add-on Compatibility Reporter, which
turns off compatibility checking and allows you to install the Google
Toolbar add-on (from somewhere other than Google, like
download.cnet.com, since Google checks for compatibility before
allowing the download/install to proceed). You can then flag Google
Toolbar as working properly and there you go.

I don't want the Google toolbar, but that "Add-on Compatibility
Reporter"
rter/) looks most useful! Obviously a use-at-own-risk thing.
