I just went form 3.6.XX to 5 on my laptop with no problems whats so ever

I went from 3.6 to 5 with no issues at all. A couple of my favorite themes don't work on the newer one but in time they will.

I purchased Adguard for $9.95 / year because it covers all browsers IE9, FF5, Opera, Avant, Chrome, etc. Works like a charm too! Best $10 I ever spent on a piece of software besides I probably would have just bought a pepperoni pizza with it anyways.
