I used X-10 years ago, when its computer control was in its own box, not
a PC (IIRC[1]). The interface was awkward, but since I didn't make
changes very often, I could live with it.

I don't do that sort of thing any more. It ended up being not important
to me

[1] I'm talking early 90's, so the R part of IIRC is in serious doubt...
