Backup Programs

Char,

You indicated that ATI 2011 does allow for auto managing of the number of backups? Does
this mean you can set a number (ie 3) in your backup setup, and then just run and re-run
the backup setup and it will increment the file backup number and delete the oldest to
maintain 3? Trying to understand before buying and finding it does not do this.

Also, I review the Chain2Gen forum message you suggested and found the latest one
discussing the add-on was in Jan, 2010? Is this addon still active?

Well, I don't use the feature myself, but I see it there when I create
or edit a backup job. It has options for how many backups to keep OR
how old the backups should be allowed to get OR something about
minimum available drive space. I don't have it open in front of me,
but I'm pretty sure those are the three available options, and since
they're selected by radio buttons you can only pick one.

Not sure because I was only posting a link that someone else had
recently posted, but I don't see why it wouldn't work as well as it
ever did. It's basically just a pre-processing script, is all. You
could do the same thing by creating a batch file and having Acronis
automatically execute it before and/or after you backup job.

chain2gen is still very much in use and there are many discussions after
Jan 2010 on the ATI Forums which are at:
http://forum.acronis.com/forums/acronis-discussion-forums/acronis-home-home-
office-products-discussions/acronis-true-image-ho

--- and search on chain2gen.
It is a set of Batch files which work on my Win7 Home Premium 64 bit.
