On the other hand, I think it's incredibly annoying to have to
type something to launch a program, almost as if I'm searching for
it each time I want to run it. In fact, it was so annoying that I
installed Classic Shell and went back to the XP-style menu. Much
better now.

It took me a little while to get used to it, but I like the new
searchable program menu. It's my favorite improvement to the Windows
UI. Any often-used programs can can be made permanent shortcuts on the
menu, and I can still search it pretty much like before if I want.
