Free Upgrade to W7?

I recently heard that for users who bought a computer running vista after july 1 would be eligible to receive a free upgrade to W7. Is this true or just some myth some guy has invented?

It's true, but not all manufacturers offer it on all models. You would need to double check with your manufacturer to be absolutely sure. (Gateway refuses it on some of their cheaper Vista Home Premium laptops, to name one example)
