iPad sucks. You can only browse Apple approved web sites and only
download Apple approved files and programs. We need a Windows pad.

Your opinion. Some agree, others disagree.
You can only browse Apple approved web sites
I didn't have that problem when trying one a friend bought, I was able
to browse any website I tried, including a website I know couldn't
possibly be on Apple's approved list, if there was one.
and only download Apple approved files and programs.
I didn't have an opportunity to try anything involving downloading
files, but since you can put your own movies, music and the like on
there, I doubt that this is exactly accurate. Programs on the other
hand, likely so - until you jailbreak the device anyway.
We need a Windows pad.
HP has one they expect to release later this year that runs Windows 7,
and I suspect there are others in the works. How well they do at it
compared to the iPad remains to be seen, of course...

something big and sinister going on in the world.
Slartibartfast: No, that's perfectly normal paranoia. Everyone in the
universe gets that.

That's BS about apple approved websites.
You can browse anywhere, just don't expect any flash sites to work.

The REAL problem in my opinion is that you have to have another computer for
it to work.
You can't activate it, back it up or upgrade the firmware without another
computer (PC or MAC) to connect it to.
This is not a standalone machine, it is a peripheral. Basically it is a
glorified iPod Touch. If you buy one and you don't expect it to be a
primary machine, then you are ok, however if you expect to get rid of your
other machines and only use the iPad, you are screwed.

Given Microsoft's history, they will come out with one after a few years,
when it's really too late to make that much of an impact, just like the
Zune. Only tie will tell.
