Windows sizes change at random in Windows7.

Windows sizes such as in Windows Explorer seem to have a mind of their
own, and change from maximized to smaller size at random.

Similarly, when I use folders for the desktop each containing several
shortcuts to, say, video programs, these also change sizes
spontaneously. Not only that, but even the setting ïcons" in "view"
spontaneously change to "detailed"view as well as the window size
changing.

Is there some way to lock in the properties desired in "view" and
window size so these remain fixed? I had the very same problem with
XP.
