What is "monitor mode" ? Are you attaching your laptop to a monitor? What is the monitor make/model?

Is the difference in MHz causing a problem?

i mean display mode(current display mode on diagnostic tool),not connected to a monitor.
when i check current display mode,my catalyst control center always show that mode on 60hz but windows say 59hz, i turn it to 60hz on windows mode by change value on monitor tab( screen resolution -> advanced settings ) but its automatic return to 59hz( ati card says 60hz)
i dont know why?
can u solve this problem for me?

I think it is cause this this problem :
I play offline game Need4speed hotpursuit2 on my old xps dell (win7 home,core 2 dual p8700,4g ram,ati 36xx..),it s working so smooth.
And something wrong (lag and not smooth) with my new one dell 1558 (win7 home, core i5 520,4g ram,ati 45xx..) even i reinstalled that game, driver ati or win7..
You can tell me the reason why my dell 1558 got lag??? i think with that configue, dell 1558 is more power than xps.
thanks anyway

You might try updating your BIOS and drivers.

The Dell Studio 15 has had 6 BIOS updates in the last 7 months. The latest BIOS I see is 2010 Oct 15 BIOS A11

There is a a media accelerator driver from 2010 Jan 11

And an ATI Mobility driver from 2010 Jul 28

In fact there are a lot of items listed for the studio 15.
I suggest you write Dell support about your issue because it looks like maybe you found another.

Well I do suggest you also update the BIOS and drivers I listed to see if it helps. It is possible they solved it.
