windows picture viewer

In Vista the picture viewer had a bar area on the right side that
showed picture info including the name. It was possible to click on
the name and rename the pictures. Win7 seems to have eliminated that.
I'd sure like to find something that's quick and easy list the Vista
version was - it was so easy to go thru a bunch of pictures and label
them, no click click click thru endless menus to get to a rename
option,

Anyone know of a simple program to replace the built in one?

Yes, it's called Explorer. If you have a folder of pictures, you
should see them as thumbnails by default. Click once on a given one
and press F2, which is the standard Windows Rename key.

If you want to do some sort of editing other than rename, I recommend
the free Irfanview at www.irfanview.com . F2 is the rename key in
Irfanview as well.

Or Xnview... www.xnview.com
