WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER (WMP) WILL NOT RIP CDS AND

HI
I know MS just ended wmp album info find on 7. that's a book in it self.
QUESTIONS

1. WMP 7 will not rip my cds anymore because of some permissions failure
a. why will it not let me fill in album name, artist names etc, unless I am not playing CD i want to name

2. how do i stop it from snycing or sucking up files from my flash drives all of which are labeled with a musical note
as this 7 does not offer a "Take No Action Option" in auto play
