I use Free RAR extract Frog:

Works fine in W7.

The obvious choice is WinRAR, but as others have pointed out, there
are free alternatives such as 7zip.

Interesting. One of the arguments I hear from folks who don't want to
even try Linux is that they don't want to have to 'retrain' or 'relearn'.
So here we are retraining on the latest MS version!

Actually, Ubuntu is more similar to XP than Win 7 is and would require
less retraining or relearning.

Ubuntu is more similar to a train wreck and would require many hours of
messing with to learn the cryptic commands that you need to tweak that
INFERIOR OS to do what you want.

Best to stay away from Ubuntu. Ubuntu was written by geeks for geeks who
can't get laid.

Ah - I see you've never tried it
