Windows hangs while typing

My wife's Lonovo T60 running Windows 7 Home periodically goes into a hang when she is typing. She enters a letter and the machine will not take any keyboard entries for a few to 10-15 seconds. It then returns to keyboard entry. It does this a bunch of times in series but eventually comes back to normal operation for a while. Then may restart hanging process again.

Appreciate any suggestion for the solution of this problem.

Isnt there anyone out there who has an idea???? This has been on since 12 June!!
