[FONT=&quot]this is the issue that pops up whenever i plug something (ipod, camera, etc.) into my usb ports. it even comes up when i try to run a chkdsk. once in "my computer", i try to right click on the c:drive and this message comes up. i can't use "my documents" when i have something plugged in either. i can no longer update my ipod. i just uninstalled mcafee and also used the removal tool that they provide, but that hasn't helped. this makes me feel pretty sure that mcafee is not the problem. i have done the "run as administrator" process for various different scans and other things, but those haven't helped either. they have recognized that there is an issue in the c:drive, but there's nothing further that it can do. this has really become annoying and has kept me from using my computer for important things. if you guys could help me get the answer for this, that would be great.

Make sure it is a device you know does not have a virus, the try disabling your anti-virus and then plug it in. What A-V do you use currently?

i don't know if you noticed, but i've already done that. i had mcafee and i disabled it and removed it from my computer. it isn't just one device either. anything i plug in, whether it be a flashdrive, my ipod, a camera, or whatever, 'causes the above "problem signature" to occur.

No I hadn't read your post close enough; I'm afraid that's all I saw when I searched,

I would suggest maybe boot up from your recovery DVD and let it run repair.

If that fails, maybe a restore from an earlier restore point.
