Windows 7 Power Options problem.

P

Peter Jason

I have Win7 ultimate, and a BENQ FP241W/FP241WZ lcd moniter bought in
Jan2008.

I want to set the monitor to turn off after 4 hours (or similar) and I
try this by ControlPanel/PowerOptions/ and then there are 3 settings:
"Choose when to turn off the display" (on the left).
"Select a power plan (Balanced)"
"Select a power plan" (Power Saver).

I have set all to 4 hrs, but this never seems to stick and I get the
default 5 minutes after about a day.

The driver for the monitor is up to date, and it does not seem to have
an independent turn-off feature.

Am I doing something wrong?

Does your graphics card have power settings? If so, is it set to
override Windows?

The graphics card has no power settings to turn off the monitor.

Two thoughts occur.
1. Turn off hybrid sleep.
2. You are saving settings after changing?

The first thing you did wrong was buy something with the name BENQ.
BENQ=ACER=SHIT.

Really? I've had a Benq monitor for at least 10 years that works
brilliantly - just plug it in and away it goes. Don't use my large
digital monitor much, only for pics, but the Benq is on every day, and
never had any problems. Just my little twopennorth
Cheers
