if you get a windows 7 cd from hp or dell is it just for that brand of pc or can I install it on another that is compatatible for win 7?

Hi, Cobra! The reinstall discs that you are referring to can only be used on the same brand of computer and the computer must have the version of Windows 7 that is printed on the label (Starter, Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate).
