Windows 7 Hell

I upgraded my HP Pavilion Dual Corr Pentium from Vista to Windows 7 and it's been nothing but trouble. The machine won't shut down normally and it’s stating that something is running and when I CTRL-ALT-DEL, nothing shows. I contacted MS in Indian and ended up talking to a clone that new less then I so I’m thinking that I should try a REG clean program, so can someone recommend one. I tried one years ago an dumped my machine and had to F disk and reinstall everything.

I personally would perform a clean install as upgrading can give you issues (which you are having.) a reg clean may work but I would think that it wouldn’t completely fix the problems. I could be wrong about that… what I do is I make back ups of docs etc, perform a clean install and then reinstall my programs and restore my back ups. I use Norton back up for this and it has not missed a beat (when the correct settings are used... I will go into more details about that little mishap with my wife’s e-mails in another thread later on )

I purchased the Ultimate Upgrade for $240.00 and the machine came with Vista installed. Any ideas?

Do you need to keep you files etc or are you not really worried about them?

As Reaper has stated, if you don't mind trying it, do a clean install. It appears that a lot of people are having issues with doing the upgrade choice. It even made local papers here in Pittsburgh today. I don't think cleaning the registry will do much of anything if you are having so many issues.

Do you by any chance know the exact model of your HP Pavilion? That would help to find a solution for you.

The name is a bit of a misnomer, as you should still be able to select the option for a clean install during the setup wizard.
