Windows 7 for Dummies

E

Emrys Davies

I am thinking of buying such a book, but I do not want one which is mainly a
reflection of previous Windows OS's. I am getting along fine, but I like
easy to follow illustrations (something different), although the Search
facility, Help and Support, GodMode and this forum are very informative.
Any ideas?

While probably a little more complex than a " for dummies " book, I
personally really like Windows 7 Inside and Out by Ed Bott.
It has a tremendous amount of information, in relatively easy to understand
terms. It does a great job in hitting on the new features of Windows 7.

I have just studied the reviews for this book and I have just ordered it.
Thanks a lot.

I have 'Windows 7 In Depth by Robert Cowart and Brian Knittel'

It is a hefty tome!

Thx

BTW there is a tremendous amount of help on the Web since MS is trying to
reduce phone support calls.
Dave-Uk is great support here:) I am sticking with him atm:)

Heftier than Ed Bott's 1028 page tome? Bott's book is excellent, but
doesn't answer all my questions. What with MS's practice of changing
names, shifting locations of items, etc, I suspect that a book that
answers all my questions would be multi-volume.

I don't know, I haven't seen it:) Just checking, mine has 1117 pages if
that helps:)

I haven't been through mine yet, but if i ever do, I shall let you know:)
I suspect I shall treat mine as a reference.

Anyway, more importantly, did you have a nice birthday?

I bought a copy of Windows 7 Visual Quick Tips - Paul McFredries ISBN
978-0-470-52117-5 and like it very much. It gets to the point with a
lot of very easy to understand information and instructions. Look for
this book as places like Office Depot. I bought my copy there. Gordon

Check your library.

I have "Windows 7 Secrets" by Thurrott and Rivera signed out from my
library. Quite expensive at US$50.00, but it is very informative and
well illustrated. 1054 pages - I've had to renew it :)

ISBN is: 978-0-470-50841-1
