Windows 7 - Controller Issue

Hi Guys,

I'm just after your expert advice please.

I have a Dell Latitude D505 laptop - It's a few years old now but has decent
spec and runs Windows 7 (Home Premium) beautifully - I'm very impressed.

My question is regarding the graphics card - It's a Intel 82852/82855 GM and
unfortunately Windows 7 doesn't support it.

I downloaded the appropriate driver software from Dell and at first it
wouldn't install but when I ran it in XP compatibility mode it appears to
work fine and the display is looking good.

My question is that in the Device Manager I've now got a listing with a
Yellow Exclamation Mark under Other Devices: Video Controller

The actually Display adapter is showing no problems.

I don't think I can do anything to make the controller install properly but
after saying that, if it appears to be working okay, should I just leave it?
What's the worst that can happen?

There is a long and detailed workaround here if you are comfortable
with editing files, taking ownership via the command line etc.

Or you could just leave it as it is if you are happy with it.

I thought I'd give it a go - I've ever tried anything like this before... IT
WORKED!!!!!!!

I just didn't understand the last bit... I couldn't see where I had to type:
"NT SERVICE\TrustedInstaller"

"You will need to type "NT SERVICE\TrustedInstaller" (without quotes) when
adding it to own the file and to have all permissions. Once you done editing
you can delete your account from c:\windows\system32\drivers\vgapnp.sys,
because it was not there from the beginning. We took control over and the
previous commands added it by default."

It doesn't matter though as Device Manager is showing everything fully
installed and working!
