Rather than blame it on Windows 7, it's better to Google something like this.

Outlook 2007 missing emails

This is the first hit I could find. One person in this thread, thinks there
is a folder somewhere ("Offline Folders"), containing the missing emails.

http://itknowledgeexchange.techtarget.com/itanswers/missing-email-outlook-2007/

The original poster in this thread, has run into some kind of problem like
yours, and his next step, is creating a new user profile, as a test case.

http://social.technet.microsoft.com...n/thread/BBA4AEB7-1E94-4484-A01D-A835690196FD

The OWA mentioned in that thread, might nor apply, depending on the kind of
email server at the email provider. I thought it might be a diagnostic of
some kind, but it's just a webmail equivalent to Outlook, for usage with
Exchange servers.

It's also possible to set up email clients, such that as soon as
you "Read" a message, they "disappear". That would be "View Unread Messages Only",
versus being able to continue to view both Read and Unread messages.
That's the simplest explanation. So as soon as you "touch" a message,
it would disappear.

In any case, Google "Outlook 2007 missing emails" and you can find other
examples.

Microsoft is making/will make changes in email services if you are using

? MSFT making/will make changes ?

MSFT server settings (including those in that KB article) have been in place for at least 6 yrs.
- they're not making (or will make) changes

That's what you think!
MS recently sent at least some subscribers notices of forthcoming changes.
How an individual user will be impacted depends upon how their email is
setup.

In my case, I use "legacy" email instead of the various other schemes,
So, as I read things, there will be minimal impact.
Exchange users are another thing. Outlook (depending on how it and the
users accounts are setup,) may or may not be impacted.

I'm pretty certain I know 'what I think'.

Let's see a copy of that 'MSFT' email or quoted text from that email.
- with MSFT accounts across all possible subscription levels provided by MSFT and many others with MSFT accounts would find it
helpful if those details regarding said content were provided.

On the other hand....
1. If you are referring to the notice that Hotmail type accounts operating under different domains(Hotmail, Live, Msn.com) will all
be converted to operate under Outlook.com by the end of the summer (2013) if folks don't voluntarily switch prior to that
date...then **nothing** in that notice requires user changes how those accounts are accessed via Email clients or in a browser.
- i.e. POP3 access settings remain the same, urls will continue to logon to the same location (when using hotmail.com,
mail.live.com, etc), all old email addresses will continue to function.......only the web UI interface changes.

2. With respect to Outlook (the email client not the web UI)...Outlook 2013 (as well as Windows Phone and other devices) the http
protocol used for MSFT accounts (hotmail/live/msn/outlook.com) will change from MAPI(which used DeltaSync) to Exchange Active Sync
(EAS - the same protocol used on Windows 8)..this change is transparent and handled by the built in OL13 code during account setup
(related standardization - Windows Phone and Win8 mail app use the same EAS). Also with OL13 EAS accounts use (and only use) *.ost
files - any server settings are transparent (not even user configurable) and not even remotely related to content in KB287532.

3. Outlook 2007/2010 with the Hotmail Connector (latest version July 2013) continues to use MAPI (via the DeltaSync server).

4. If using OL (any version) for Hotmail accounts with the POP3 protocol those 6 yr old settings (previously referenced) continue
to remain applicable (i.e. no change)
