Windows 7 has created 3 partitions
1 is 1.46gb, 2nd is 581.31 gb, 3rd is 13.39gb

What is the 14gb used for and If it isn't used for anything neccessary will I able to add it to 581 gb

If you don't understand here is a screenshot

If you look closely and the 1.46 GB...that's your recovery partition...."DO NOT REMOVE OR DELETE". Leave it like it is...if your computer crashes....this is where you will use that drive to reset your laptop to like new, out of the box, factory condition.

The 13.39 GB drive is OK to extend to the C: drive...if you want to.

In windows 7, you can use disk management to do that...no need for 3rd party software.

I just realised now.... but when I click delete volume it says
'This selected partition was not created by Windows and might contain data recognized by other operating systems'

The partitions aren't created by Windows, they're created by the machine's OEM.

The 1.46 gb partition is for EISA. Touch it and you hose your system.
The 14 gb partition is your recovery partition. I would leave it alone if I were you.
