Win7 SP1 keeps asking for the administrator.

I installed this software on to a new HDD 2 years
ago and I have had no trouble until 4 weeks ago
when I occasionally get a message that "you need
administrator rights to move/save/alter this
file". What have I done wrong?
I am the only one who uses the machine.

Perhaps you could give an example of the path of the
file giving you trouble. Such as

C:\users\Peter\downloads\my_new_application.exe

Given an example, someone may be able to explain how
it got that way.

Malware can mess things up, so if you had a malware
problem in the last few weeks, that might explain it.
Or at least give an excuse for it happening.
