Why so long to connect?

Why would it now be taking about a minute or more to get connectivity?
Same fast start up with Win7U on a Crucial SSD but lately not connecting
like it used to. Nothing changed or added to this box. I only use it for
email. I never run any apps. All the good stuff is done on my laptop
that connects 2 seconds after I enter my password. I have updated AV and
Malwarebytes and nothing bad to report

Wired or wireless?

Possibilities include a problem with the router, interference,
especially if you normally use the laptop closer to the access point
than the fixed unit, something in the startup sequence hanging before
the network service starts and a couple of others. Possibly the AV
update has broken your firewall in some way.
Thanks for the reply. I have recycled the router just for safe measure.
No help. My laptop is sitting next to this desktop and connected
wireless but as I said it has no such problem. I will have to look at
the start up sequence to see if I can figure out what to look for.

Thanks again.

I suggest that use Current Ports, put a short-**** in the Startup
folder, set Current Port's refresh rate to 1 second and watch
connections at startup. maybe, you have something on the machine you
don't know about.

Just because your AV and what ever else you are using doesn't detect
anything, it doesn't mean that something might not be there. And you
have to go look for yourself.

Ypu should use Process Explorer and go look at processes. You can right
click a running process in the upper pane, ang go to Properties and get
more info on a running process.

Hijackthis! can also be helpful, even if you need to post the log
somewhere for others to analyse.

It starts early on in the Windows boot sequence, and logs everything
that runs and accesses the network until the boot sequence has finished.
