What where are the Microsoft Windows 7 addons to replace stuff removed in Windows 7?

I have heard people say that Microsoft has some downloads available
that replace programs that were around in XP and Vista but not
included in Windows 7.

Does anyone know the URL for these downloads (which are probably
somewhere on on microsoft.com?

Thank you.

Do a search for Windows Live.

HI, Mark.

WHICH programs are you interested in?

Perhaps they were talking about the Windows Live Essentials, which include
several programs with the Windows Live name: Mail, Messenger, Calendar,
Movie Maker - and a few others. See the list for yourself and download -
free - any that you like from: http://download.live.com

The most prominent, I suppose, is Windows Live Mail. WinXP and prior had
Outlook Express built in; Vista had Windows Mail. Windows 7 has NO integral
mail client or newsreader. You are free to choose any that you like; many
of us are using Windows Live Mail, which looks and feels a lot like OE/WM.

I received the January 2010 issue of PCWorld yesterday and found URLs
for three from M$, and I suspect they have more in their huge dl data
base. Live Photo is at find.pcworld.com/64075; Ultimate Windows Tweaker
v2--change the number to 64079 If you browse around that number range
you might find more. I might be the only person in the world, but I wish
they would make the Vista search engine available for W7, which has the
slowest one in the universe and quite often misses things that I know
are there. I know that many people disliked it, as did I, but after
using it a few times I changed my mind.

Is there anything you are specifically looking for that is not available in
Windows7, or are you just looking in general for programs that ran in XP,
but won't in 7?
