Windows security centre is switched off. So, I click to switch it on
..... done. Next time I switch comp' on I get the message again and
again. How do I switch it on and keep it on.
Thanks

Action Centre/ Security.
Have a look at what is on and what isn't. If you're still confused let
us know the settings there.

Everything is on (firewall, antivirus, windows update and microsoft
security essentials)..... Just restartd windows 5 mins and I get
"Windows security centre service is switched off".. so I click to see.
It won't let me see what is on or off (if anything) as it seems to be
telling me the whole thing is switched off until I press switch on then
it opens up the various security items onboard which are all on.

Based on the information you have provided, the system may be infected.
Try running one of the online virus scans; Housecalls from McAfee is a
good one.

Maybe it's the old Windows securty app. You should be running Microsoft
Securityu Essentials, I believe, and thjat might even turn off the old
seciryt sfotware if it exists.

I don't guarantee my reply, since it's been a while since I had the old
software, so I might misremember.

Only it wasn't 04:55 in this time zone, only 20:55, so I have no excuse
:) You might almost think I forgot to spell-check and proofread.

I did notice it after I posted it, but all I did to fix it was to say
"Oh, (something)"...

Anyway, no matter when I type, I make more than enough errors.

But the real problem is that what I said was not very useful, or even
correct, in this instance.

See the post in this thread by ...winston to see why I say that.
