What is SM bus controller?

I have an entry in my device manager called SM bus controller under system devices and it has a yellow exclaimation mark next to it.

It says "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)", but my computer works perfectly?

Should I download some drivers for this or will it work without them?

My PC is an Intel Dell if that helps.

It sounds like you need the Intel chipset drivers (similar to this thread). If you post your model Dell or the chipset details and I'll find the link for you.

Windows 7 should be able to handle most Intel chipsets out of the box.
