What do you use to read/open .dmp files

Whenever I try opening .dmp files in Notepad they are not in a format I can read.
What do you guys do to be able to open and read them?

If you are new to them, don't bother. It needs a bit of installing of associated programs and, if you are not going to use it extensively, not worth the effort. Better to find people like cybercore to do the hard work for you - No charge!

Well there is that I suppose. I like to try to learn new stuff and feel guilty relying on others all the time.. Is it a PITA to set up?

Not totally. Just read everything thats avaialble to read as you go along. I have it installed for my own group of enquirers, but rarely use it.

I find it easier to make images as I go along and go back to a previous image when things go wrong. It's quicker!

It's less accurate than WinDbg though, for example it'll simply show Power State Failure 9F caused by pci.sys while WinDbg will read ... pci.sys_Stwrt64.
